If you were to ask, what is the most common question that we get daily, our answer would be Lash Lift or Lash Extensions. Which one is better?
The answer is……they both have their place and they both have amazing results. The real question is…..what results do you want and how dedicated do you want to be with your lashes.
Everyone that has been around us for more than 5 seconds knows that our lives revolve around Lash Extensions however, Lash Lifts have a very special place in our hearts too.
What is a Lash Lift?
The basic description of a Lash Lift is using your natural lashes and placing a curl on them, which opens up your eyes. Obviously we could go into much much much more detail about how Lash Lifts work and rods and solutions and tints and blah blah blah. Lets keep this simple and easy. Lash Lifts are not for everyone though. Because we are using your natural lashes, your natural lashes need to be long enough and enough of them to get the amazing results. Now, don’t let that deter you. We have different sized rods depending on the length of your natural lashes. With the Lash Lifts, there is no adding anything to your lashes so to get a little bit more volume, we always suggest tinting them at the same time. An amazing benefit of a lash lift is that they are almost maintenance free and last between 8 – 12 weeks before needing to to another Lash Lift. This is really great for people that lead extremely busy lifestyles!
So what is the difference with Lash Extensions?
Lash Extensions are where we add individual lash extensions to your natural lashes. With Lash Extensions, it does not matter the length of your natural lashes. All that matters is that you have enough there and that they are healthy for us to work with. Because we are adding extensions to your natural lashes, we have the ability to style your lash extensions to a particular look that you want, add more volume and add more length. With everything, there are some downsides (if you can call them downsides.) With Lash Extensions, they do need to be maintained by cleansing them every 3 days and you would need to visit us every 3 weeks for your infill to keep those lashes looking absolutely fabulous. Lash Extensions can be temperamental at times, depending on the season, your lifestyle factors or your hormones. Don’t let this deter you from lash extensions. We are well versed in all of this and will work with you through every bump in the road to make sure that your investment is in safe hands.
I still cannot decide…..
That’s totally understandable. The best way to work out which direction to go, is to think about your lifestyle and the look that you want. If you are going to the gym 6 days a week, working outside consistently, sweating most days, only have a limited time for “you time” or just not wanting to deal with the upkeep, then Lash Extensions may not be the best option. Having said that though, there are still loads of things that we can do that will help you to have Lash Extensions and keep up your active lifestyle.
Like we said earlier, Lash Lifts are almost maintenance free. After the first 24 hours (giving your lashes time to set in place), you can then go an do whatever the heck you want. You are not restricted from getting sweaty, or going swimming or whatever else you want to do. It is almost a completely a set and forget treatment.
What if I change my mind?
Not to worry, everything is changeable. If you get lash extensions and they are too much maintenance, after about 5 weeks, most of them would have fallen off and we would be able to do a Lash Lift for you.
If you go for a Lash Lift and want something more, after 8 – 12 weeks, we will be able to put those Lash Extensions on for you. Why so long? We have to wait for the Lash Lift to grow out before we can put the Lash Extensions on. The reason for this is with a curl on your natural lashes, there are less adhesion points for us to glue the Lash Extension to. That means your retention would not be as brilliant as possible.
