This post we will need to start off a little differently to the rest. To start this one we need to make a disclaimer:
We are not in any way medical practitioners or giving out medical advice if any reactions take place or if you are experiencing a possible reaction. We are giving simple observations of what we have seen when it comes to possible reactions. If we suspect any possible adverse reactions, we will always recommend seeing a medical practitioner first and obtaining medical advice. Do not self medicate or simply ignore signs of a possible reaction. They can become more severe and may even cause blindness or death. You are dealing with your eyes……think of how much you would pay for someone to take away your sight.
Ok…..now that we have that out of the way, possible reactions are a very real situation and one that we do not take lightly. A possible reaction is something that must be checked by a medical professional and advice must be sought from them.
What may be the cause of a possible reaction when it comes to lash extensions. Generally speaking, the main ingredient in almost every single lash extension glue sold on the market is Cyanoacrylate. This is what make lash extension glue work. Most of the time, this is what people may be having reactions to.
Cyanoacrylate is used from common household items, through to medical procedures. It is a very versatile little thing.
So when it comes to lash extensions, this is the main ingredient in the adhesive. This is what makes that lash extension stick to your natural lashes. It is not a permanent bond and will break down over time.
The possible signs that you may be having a reaction of the lash glue is redness, itching or swelling of the eyes. It may be one of these or it may be all of these.
As soon as this happens, seek medical attention from a medical professional and after everything has been sorted, let your lash technician know as well. If you don’t tell them that this has happened and you continue getting lash extensions, well it is not going to get better from here on in.
The best way to explain how a possible reaction may work is, think of your body as a cup. Your body can deal with heaps of things. If you start to fill the cup with water (pretend the water is cyanoacrylate), eventually the cup will overflow. The overflowing of the water is when your body is saying enough is enough and cannot take on any more water and may start to show signs of a possible reaction.
This is what most people will not understand. Once the cup overflows, the water in the cup never disappears. It is there for ever. You body has taken in enough of that particular substance and will ALWAYS show possible reactions. It does not matter if you wait for 6 months or 6 years, your body has had enough.
This is the heart breaking news now………if your body is showing possible signs of a cyanoacrylate reaction, you can no longer get lash extensions. Once you have had the signs of a possible reaction, you will continue to have possible signs of the reaction.
If you ignore these signs, they will continue to get worse and worse and worse. Remember, once the cup is full, the water does not disappear. This is not something to brush off and think “I will get over this.” Your body does not work that way.
If you continue, the itching, swelling and redness may get worse, it may cause you permanent blindness, it may lead to anaphylactic shock and could even lead to death.
Is having lash extensions really worth all of this? Yes, they look amazing but if you do not have your health, you wont have the chance to continue getting lash extensions. There are sooo many alternatives to lash extensions. Your eyesight, health and life are worth more than ignoring the signs of a possible reaction.
